Audit rips Colorado’s lifetime-supervision sentence for sex offenders.

A 15-year-old state law that created a lifetime-supervision sentence for Colorado sex offenders provides insufficient treatment for many of the highest-risk inmates and has left thousands of others waiting for therapy in prison, according to a recent audit.
Demand for treatment in the Department of Corrections’ Sex Offender Treatment and Monitoring Program greatly exceeds supply, the audit found. Just one-sixth of inmates eligible to begin treatment are able to start the program each year — effectively keeping many sex offenders in prison indefinitely.

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. — A serial child molester in Pennsylvania who tattooed an underage girl in exchange for sex will spend the rest of his life in prison for crimes against 15 children.

A Bucks County judge sentenced 36-year-old Walter Meyerle on Thursday to 494 to 982 years behind bars.

APPLETON – The Appleton Police Department has finished its first compliance check of the state’s sex offender registry.

Back in May, we told you how the department was training officers to focus on sex offenders who completed their state mandated supervision. Those offenders are still required to keep their current address on file with the state.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini reports that the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two sex offenders this week for reporting violations.

Donini said his detectives arrested Cody R. Deemer, 19, of 2431 “B” State Route 139 Portsmouth. Deemer was charged on Monday Dec. 10, 2012 for failure to change his address a felony of the first degree. Deemer is being held on a $50,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court today.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, is notifying the public of the intended release of Rex A. Tande.  His intended release date is October 30, 2011.  At the time of this news release, Mr. Tande will be residing at 247 E. Tower Street in the Village of Alma Center, County of Jackson, with a relative.

Oklahoma County Judge Dan Owens ordered the removal of those on the list because their length of time was extended retroactively. Earlier this week, Owens ruled that the state can’t increase the number of years a person’s name is on the list after they’ve been added.
